Text, Text Area, Email, and Rich Text fields

Let’s look at the text fields and how they function. 

Text field

The Text field lets you collect data on a single line. Text fields accept letters and symbols from any language, numbers, and special characters.

Text Area field

The Text Area field lets you collect data on multiple lines. It also accepts letters and symbols from any language, numbers, and special characters.

You can apply formatting to the data in a text area, including bold, italics, hyperlink, subscript, and superscript. To remove any formatting, highlight the text and click the Remove formatting button (). 

You cannot use any expressions or formulas with Text Area fields. 

Validations

There are 4 types of validations you can use with a Text Area field: 

  • Contains
  • Does not contain
  • Max length
  • Min length

Email field

The Email field lets you collect valid email addresses. This field requires a “@” and “.” from the user to be considered valid. 

Settings

You cannot use any expressions or formulas with email fields. 

Validations

There are 8 types of validations you can use for an email field.

Richtext 

The Rich text field lets you add any kind of static text, image, or video to any part of a form. 

There are multiple formatting options such as:

  • Bold
  • Italics
  • Underline
  • Strikethrough
  • Text color
  • Alignment
  • H1 and H2 headings
  • Hyperlinks
  • Bullets
  • Blockquote
  • Add an image
  • Add a video clip

You can use the Insert field button to add dynamic text based on other form or system fields.

There are no validations or expressions for the Rich Text field.
